Seven Day Slump

So here we go with the first of a new weekly feature set to run every Friday (Until I forget/ can't be bothered). Hopefully the list below contains something you like, something you hate and something you're not quite sure about yet. To me, it's just the best and most interesting things I've seen online in the past seven days.

• Friendly Fires and Azari III teamed up to record some music, are giving away 'Stay Here' for free.

• John Legend and The Roots did a cover of Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up'

• Jamie xx revealed his first solo single, Far Nearer

• In the world of remixes, Four Tet reworked The xx whilst Diplo got his hands on Deerhunter's 'Helicopter'
  
  
• Justin Timberlake showed his rap chops with this run down of Hip-Hop history with US chat show host Jimmy Fallon.
  
  
• Yuck debuted their epic new single 'Rubber'. Stream it below:

Major Lazer/ La Roux - Houstatlantavegas Pains feat. Drake

For all the talk of La Roux's hair, family, 80's nostalgia or her voice the one things people seemed to miss was just how heartbroken she sounds when she sings. Currently riding a wave of success Stateside, La Roux has teamed up with Diplo for the server crashingly popular mixtape Lazerproof and whilst, as expected, much of it brings a tropical tilt to Elly's angst-pop it is this re-working of 'Grwoing Pains' that leaps out that bit more. Spying the fragile bravado behind the harsh exterior of La Roux this delicate remix strips back the bouncing synths and lays things bare. A scene stealing cameo from Drake and a tear stained Jackson vocal later and you have a good song re-defined as a great one.

Sunday Girl Vs Diplo - Four Floors

Backed by everyone from Popjustice and the man behind The Saturdays to blogwagon jumpers like myself, Sunday Girl is currently burning a very bright trail indeed. Much like fellow pop princess in waiting Florrie, S.G has been teamed up with a 'cool' name, a sort of credibility giver. Diplo is making 2010 his own right now, first he turned Coco and Robyn inside out and his production on the new Rolo Tomassi album (Interview coming soon) is reputation changing.

Here he takes a feather lite pop vocal and drags it through the dirt. Reminiscent of Joker's re-rub of SMD and B. Ditto's 'Cruel Intentions' these are four floors worth climbing...
