Tonight is the annual industry back scratch awards known to bored ITV viewers as 'The Brits'. James Cordon and Mat Horne are presenting with Kylie Minogue involved somehwhere along the line. You can see the nominees here. Performances are due from Lady GaGa, Kings of Leon, Slayer and Girls Aloud- I made one of those up, guess which one. I'm not being an indie snob about the awards- they will be a lot more fun than the Mercury's that's for sure but they do tend to be a bit on the safe side. Below are my predictions and wishes- don't quote me on any of them, it could be a Mark Lawrenson esque disaster.

If i was in charge
British Album - In Rainbows, first decent Radiohead in a while IMHO
Group - meh
British single - Laura Marling with Cross your fingers/crawled out of the sea
Male Solo - meh
Breakthrough Act - nice call, saw Late of The Pier recently and was very impressed
Live Act - Iron Maiden only cause they do their shtick well, glad not TingsTings cause they are rubbish live, haven't seen Foals yet though
International Album - KOL album is a let-down, way too clean sounding and uninventive for me. Dear Science by TOTR followed closely by Dig Lazarus Dig.
International Group - Black Keys. Awesome albums, awesome live, awesomely unpretentious. Failing that, Sigur Ros.
International Male - Seasick Steve, yes his shtick got old quickly but they're all boring.
International Female - Ladyhawke, though Soko is fun.
radiohead wasnt last year was it ???
