So 2010 feels like it is winding down already. People are planning Christmas parties, end of year polls are being compiled and yet there are two whole months of the year left. October has been a big month for album releases and whilst it lacks the A-List pulling power of November (Kanye, Rihanna) there is more than enough to get your teeth into here.
Album of the month this month has to go to Warpaint for their stunning debut 'The Fool'. If you're a fan of spectacular melodies and brain frying psych meanderings then I can't recommend it highly enough. To stream the album then do click here.

Hello, welcome to another dose of new stuff rounded up in a weekly fashion. Am writing this in a bit of a rush as I'm heading off to see HEALTH and Crystal Castles shortly, I have a really bad headache so those two should relax me and make things normal again, right?
So, first up is some news...
Rivers Cuomo has teamed up with Best Coast to work together. Hopefully it will result in some good music and not just a load of stoned jokes about cats and internet memes involving the cast of Jackass 3D. (Pitchfork)
Nicki Minaj has revealed her album artwork, it shows her with no arms. I've always thought she was 'armless enough etc etc.

Elsewhere, Kanye West did a 'reverse Skream' by making La Roux's 'In For The Kill' sound a bit shit with his remix whilst Joe Goddard remixed Kisses self titled track from their wonderful new album which is out this week. Be sure to check them out as I believe they're in the country at the moment. That track is available at Stereogum.
Finally, some videos. Warpaint did nothing to stop people assosciating them with Hollywood by getting band sister and actress Shannyn Sossamon to direct their clip for 'Undertow' whilst Holy Fuck joined Klaxons, Wavves and Best Coast by combining indie with cats to great effect on their video for 'Red Lights'.
Video, track, moment and everything about this week has revolved around James Blake. I've prattled on about him enough on here so will just leave you with the spinning fruit in the official video to his Feist cover 'Limit To Your Love'.
Brand new, free to download track from the hypnotic LA ensemble Warpaint. Full review to come as and when The Fly is published next month but suffice to say, this is one of the best albums of the year and 'Undertow' is a jewel in its crown.
It's been a busy day for Vivian Girls. First up, drummer Ali has left to join Best Coast and has been replaced by fellow Brooklynite Fiona who also bashes skins for Coasting. Secondly the band have announced their part in a forthcoming Bowie tribute record alongside the likes of Warpaint, Soulwax and French first lady Carla Bruni. I've held off writing about Warpaint for the past few months as I've been waiting for the answers to this Q+A I did. Luckily it was recording and not tardiness that held things up as Warpaint have been hard at it in the studio, laying down the tracks for their debut album due later this year. I chatted with drummer Stella about her band, Peter Gabriel and the 'F-bomb'.
Q: First band you ever saw live?
Stella: My folks took me to see Peter Gabriel when I was 6. Only thing I remember was the Lynchian dancing chicken in the Sledgehammer video.
What was the first instrument you played as a child?
S:Piano. The usual story of being forced into an instrument young, I couldn't stand it. I used to fake nausea spells to stay at home and play Donkey Kong.
Where was the last show you played? How did it go?
S:We played a festival called "Walk the Line" in Den Haag, Netherlands last night. Superb people with a fervent desire to clap at every opportunity. It went well, thank you.
First album you ever bought?
S: Michael Jackson's "Dangerous". It's still listenable. I was completely infatuated with him, even up until "Blood on the Dancefloor".
Last time you were drunk was...
S: After our first show in London the other night. I don't know if you want me to follow that up with some wild tale of decadence and suffering so I'll leave it at that.
First crush on a famous person...
S: Michael Jackson, circa 1991.
The last band you saw live recently?
S: Thom Yorke and Atoms for Peace at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Good timin' British tasting Africana
Tell me about the first ever Warpaint show
S: It was a little farcical, because we all swapped instruments and there was about 10 minutes of dead air between songs. That was January 2005.
Last time you swore...
S: Probably a few minutes ago. I'm horrible. F-bombing all over the shop
Last film you saw...
S: Gimme Shelter, about 30 minutes ago. It must have been absolutely manic to be amongst that Altamont scene, let alone having the responsibility of controlling it.
