Yesterday I wrote about How To Make It In America, a show which depicts an aspirational New York, one where anyone can make it from nothing, well Gil Scott Heron shatters that illusion with one swift blow here. Dubbed the 'Anti Empire State of Mind' Gil and his buddy Nas tell the tale of dead end jobs and poverty interspersed with clicking beats and crys for mercy in a song that should make all any pretenders to their respective thrones sit up and pay serious attention.
